Title: Old Millefiori Paperweight ID Help Please. ID = Thuringian / Silesian
Post by: Nemmie on June 08, 2015, 02:30:52 PM
I picked up this one a few months ago in an antiques shop.

I thought it might be an old example but I have been unable to find something the same.

Do the cog type canes mean it is an old murano piece? The glass is slightly purpled that and the spacing and base wear lead me to believe it might have some age to it.

Once again any help with ID or possible age is greatly appreciated.

Measures 2 5/8 inches across and 1 6/8 inches in height.

I'd probably agree that it's Thuringian or Silesian.

I'm with Nick on this ...Silesian/Thuringian.  Typical canes, typical latticino ground.  You see the latticino ground in yellow quite often in these pieces.

Thank you for the information.Nice that you can still find genuinely old paperweights for reasonable prices in unexpected places.

I did find another Silesian weight before but it was very different to this piece.
