Does anyone know anything about this sulfide pistol weight? It is magnum sized (pardon the pun) and features gold lutz and an unusually finished off bottom. TIA for any help you might offer as to the true authorship and the age of this weight.

I have a sulphide pistol weight as well & would like to post photos but I don't have irfanview on my new computer.
Can someone provide a link to irfanview so I can download it?
Many thanks.

Here's a top view of my pistol sulphide. I'm still having trouble with the side & basal views. I can you that it is 3'' diameter & 2'' tall. It has a slightly jagged snap pontil with a fair amount of ware around the rim.
TY for the irfanview link :)

These things take time I guess. Someone told me the pistol style was ca. 1880s. Hang in there. :hi:

Hi. Quite a few factories in Northern Europe (Belgium, Alsace and elsewhere) made sulphide paperweights with spatter / frit grounds, from the 1880s onwards - maybe earlier. I would be surprised if the style was not followed in the USA too, by immigrant workers. So it is quite hard to date and place these weights.
