I bought these after seeing the recent post about a possible Michael Harris bottle vase. They measure 36cm. and 50cm. and have rough snapped pontils, domed bases but no marks. I did find a vase in a similar colour and others with the swirl design but nothing exactly the same.
-
Sorry, but I really do not think this is Harris.
The shape is wrong, the bottom part is too "square", the rough pontil scar is wrong, the yellow does not seem to have come from the use of silver salts and the blue spiral is not nearly elegant enough. :'(
-
Absolutely but it would be good to know who did make them, I have seen vases and bowls with a pink and cream spiral that look a match.
John
Is the glass fairly thin on the bottles?
-
Thanks Sue and John, the glass is fairly thick, the large vase weighs 1.4kg. They are attractive vases and they weren't expensive, I wonder if there is some sort of connection to Mdina/Michael Harris.

Here's a labelled example, Lafiore from Mallorca

Thanks suzygpr, I think Lafiore glass is a bit like Murano so they could be by one of several makers, I will investigate further.
-
Lafiore is one glass manufacturer but they seem to sell other local goods in their shop https://lafiore.com/en/

Lafiore was a little surprising to me (not sure why) but after a quick look here is a second with label for confirmation, an ebay listing so the link will only be of temporary use:

Initially I thought Lafiore was a town but it's just one of several Mallorca makers. It appears glass making was introduced to Mallorca by the Phoenicians.
