Glass / Re: Unrecorded? Mark on pressed glass compote c.1840

This pattern and variants [ very close if not the same ] also shows up in a VSL catalogue c.1847 and 1897, seems to have had a long and varied life. Interestingly the pattern on the foot seems to match the base/foot of an unrelated pattern in the 1841 Luanay & Hautin catalogue no. 2275 S&L.  It may be a mold makers mark similar to the "W""WR" "D" marks  discussed in an earlier thread.

Hi Sue,
Yes, thankfully, being online opens a wealth of information - helps keep me sane (well, a little bit)!

Glass / Whitefriars 9588?
« Last post by seanduxbury on Today at 08:29:53 AM »
Hi.  Hope someone can help here.  Bought this piece years ago from a charity shop in the north west of England and have always thought it was a piece from Ikea.  However on a recent 'rabbit hole' search on the web I came across some images of a Whitefriars shallow bowl no. 9588 that looked exactly like this one.  Can anyone confirm?  It measures 12.5 inches in diameter and is 2 inches deep and weighs almost 1700 gms.  Any help much appreciated.

It's an amazing archive Jayne, I see you've done a lot of research already and there's plenty more to be done  ;D .

Hi Jayne,

I'm not sure it helps by itself but do you remember where you saw the photo ?  If I could look at it, I can keep an eye open for the same sticker on other pieces of glass which might add more clues depending on where they're found?
