Hi All,
Would welcome any thoughts on this black pressed glass vase.
Hexagonal shape, with detailed moulding. Looks to have a Gothic/church window type design to each of the sides with a stippled background.
Flower moulded design to the base.
Measures 10.6cm tall and 6cms in diameter.
I have another black pressed vase which is a different design, which I will list separately.
Many thanks,
Greg

I found this model, a 'porte-allumette' or match holder that I think corresponds. Model 1822 for St Louis in the 1840 Launay Hautin catalogue, half way down the page, on the left.

Hi Anne,
Thank you again! - model 1822 looks spot on.
This one's in good condition given its age!
Nice to know it's origins, thank you.

Love the Gothic design - and beautifully detailed moulding and pressing for such an early press-moulded piece.

It's kind of fascinating. The texture in the windows makes me think of the "confessional booth". A bit creepy. I love it. There might be a "sinner" trapped inside it, forever! ;D

this has an id of Launay Hautin in the title.
Isn't it supposed to be Saint-Louis maybe?
