Thought this deserved a post, they are extremely thin on the ground and until this appeared on ebay the only photo available was the photo of another Zig Zag vase in Mark Hill's book on Michael Harris, page 39 (there is also a newspaper advert that illustrates a bowl in this style on page 20).
A thick heavy vase coloured with silver chloride with trailed 'zig zag' pattern in amethyst and a thick trail running around the vase below the rim. Iridescent trails and spots on the outside. It weighs almost 2kg and stands 15cm tall, flat polished base, unsigned.
A stunning piece of glass presumably dating from 1968 and the very beginnings of glass production at Mdina.

I take it you did call an ambulance for me and it's on it's way, :srn:
before you stuck this in front of me again? :thud:
-
Tough love Sue.
-
I got to cuddle it :wsh: :wsh:
PS John's looks much nicer than the one in the book: less dark
-
I know, I know - I've seen the one in the book in reality. 2003, it was.
-
I got to cuddle it, too :ooh: It's very nice
-
Mmm, I did sort of shove it under everyones nose, all very promiscuous. I'll get a reputation.
John
-
very, very pretty
Is this the result of your 'focused' buying?

My arms aren't long enough to cuddle it. Even if I wanted to.
A wonderful find - I would have had a go for it if I had known.

Well I expect it would enjoy another road trip in November, assuming it doesn't get to Scotland beforehand.
-
Focused buying? Yes I guess it is M, I have suppressed my magpie tendencies (if it is shiny buy it) or I would not have the funds necessary. 'Focusing' my collection, that is, flogging the bits around the edges has raised some cash but perhaps as importantly freed up some space. Which I have now filled.... I no longer have a cupboard full of bits not on display, though I still have a shelf in it with half a dozen pieces I have yet to sell.

John, you're creating a ton of competition for me should another appear.
The next one which does come up is MINE.
the rest of youse lot, keep away. :grrr: :grrr: :grrr:

Deep breaths Sue.......
Someone may be sitting on one, not knowing what it is or that some of us would gladly swap our grannies for one and in my case a whole host of other relatives too. ;D
John
-
ok, but you and I know we don't actually like all our relatives........ and I haven't got any grannies.
-
Some pictures of another Mdina Zig Zag vase that I found recently.
This one measures 17cm , a diameter of 14cm and weighs 2340gm.
