Does anyone have a modern St Louis catalogue to hand? I would like to find out the correct name for this paperweight - cane is marked 1997.
Thanks for any help,
-
No, but I rather like him  ;D
-
Christine, do you remember those talking Bass fish that were all the range the other year? He reminds me of one of those.... >:D
-
I think that's a bit cruel, cover his ears

Billy Bass, I had one, sang 'Take me to the river' and 'Don't worry be happy' :D
I can't help on the paperweight either, but I like it too :hiclp:
-
He's a very 'appy fishy, nobody is planning to eat him all covered in glass.... :chky:
-
Does it have any chips? (http://www.btinternet.com/~kjingleby/lol.gif)
I'll get me coat .....
-
Ha! You crack me up!
OH NO!!!
(Not really... thankfully fishywish is fine and dandy thank you very much from the bottom of his sole)
-
Will have to think of a nice plaice to put him instead of carping on :chky:
-
He looks very happy in his little fish bowl. And you won't have to feed him or clean his bowl!
-
I think he looks rather like Mick Jagger.....

Ah, another one of us that doesn't clean their glass ^-^
-
I find that I have to when the layer of dust on the top turns into felt...
but then you can just lift it off in one piece and give the underneath a quick rub.... :chky:
-
But I presume we don't know the name of this blue fishy then?
I shall christen him Brian in the interim...
-
hello Lynne, your paperweight is one of a series of 5, i have one of the same as yours and one orange fish of the same series. i also have all of the info you need. but can i find the boxes and the info, no chance, i have searched through my loft and there is no sign of them. i will have another look tomorrow, i know i haven't thrown them out as i keep all of the boxes i get.

That is a very lovely fish themed collection you have there. Do I recognize some Lundberg Studios pieces? I love that sparkly Manson!
-
Hi, yes there are three Lundberg pieces, the clownfish (at the back on the right) is Orient and Flume, and yes a sparkly manson. i also have a couple of ysart harland fish (just out of shot). i think fish and paperweights go so very well together.

Thank you glassnut! Don't they look great all together...
Strange that a blue fish is a red mullet! What is the red one called?
-
Hi Lynne, the red one is called a GROUPER! the description of this fish is as follows,
the fish can swallow other fish half it's size thanks to it's enormous mouth.
-
From a site about the Red Mullet (http://web.ukonline.co.uk/aquarium/pages/redmullet.html):
Considerable changes in colouration occur depending upon the situation, such as the time of day, stress, condition of the fish, etc.
Probably the stress of being encased in hot glass that made it turn blue and develop white spots. ;D
-
Well it might do that to me too!!
At least Brian the Mullet doesn't have as big a mouth as the Grouper.
But I do reckon he could do with a new lipstick for Christmas... :spls:
