Title: Footed Egg Shaped Vase
Post by: horochar on July 16, 2006, 09:59:24 PM
I couldn't resist this vase at the antique mall today.  Could someone tell me who produced it?  I'm assuming it's a 1950s piece.  I haven't seen this form commonly in Murano glass.  It measures 5 3/4" tall.  Barovier maybe?
Thanks,
Charles.

Hi Charles,
Most likely Barbini.
I have a smaller version of your piece, but no labels.

Thanks Javier-
I visited your excellent website, which has several Barbini pieces shown, some signed, which nail down the attribution.  Really close is the baby blue pitcher (marked as sold) -- http://www.trocadero.com/svazzo/items/525589/item525589store.html#item.  Seems this baby blue is a "characteristic" Barbini color, with which gold dust and bubbles achieve an attractive effect.

Certainly Barbini and looks like an egg that Max's Barbini Owl could have hatched out of.
