Title: A Decora Import Label
Post by: TxSilver on August 13, 2009, 04:12:34 PM
I wanted to get people's imput on the A Decora Import Company label that is often seen on Murano pieces. This label often appears on pieces that I know are AVeM pieces. The label is often on pieces that look like they could have been made by AVeM. Leslie Pina has a picture of a millefiori bottle on page 25 of her book Fratelli Toso, but from the look of the murrines and the label, I suspect that the bottle is actually AVeM. Does anyone know if the company imported glass from Murano companies other than AVeM? I have looked for information on the company, but haven't come up with anything useful.

Hi all..................I have never ever seen the Decora label on anything other than AVEM, but at age 61, I am still young enough not to be surprised by anything in this game! .............................Jerry

Glad you posted the extra picture, Jerry. I was scratching my head at the Campanella label.:) Also glad to see that someone else noticed the link between A Decora and AVeM. The only "exception" I've seen personally has been the bottle in Pina's book that I mentioned. The bottle has canes similar to the ones that are in the paperweights & vases that we wrote about in the paperweight group. www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,24550.0.html

I've looked further for information about the company. I noticed that Svazzo did the same earlier. The name of the company is the biggest problem. Even using advanced searches, all I end up with are irrelevant links. The company is probably in America, because the labels are English and very common in the USA.

Any thoughts on this pair, Decora export label, well made, lovely amethyst colour, think there is some age to them.
Sadly they both have damage to one wing tip. AVeM maybe?
