You're right, there isn't much on the board about him as such. There's a post by Roy here
https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,9431.0.html
and I found a couple of links that add a bit more to his story

Glass / Late Georgian sweetmeat glass
« Last post by markhig62 on Yesterday at 08:06:06 PM »
I am looking for some help to confirm (or otherwise) my opinions on the sweetmeat glass in the pictures. It has a flared ogee bowl on a capstan stem with angular medial knop. The conical foot is quite flat but has a snapped pontil. I believe, from the stem and foot that this is from the early 19th century - perhaps 1800 - 1830. The bowl and foot have clear striations but there are no clear pucella marks - which, i believe, ties in with the date that I suggest. There are quite a few small inclusions and tiny air bubbles and the glass weighs a hefty 445g. It is 14.4cm high, the bowl diameter is 10.8cm and the foot is 9cm. There is a fair amount of wear to the base of the foot but not a great deal of the small nicks to the rim which would be present on a wine glass - this presumably is what would be expected from a sweetmeat which would not be held in the hand much. I have looked everywhere for similar glasses to this but can find nothing, which surprises me.
Any ideas or, ideally, info on similar glasses would be welcome.
Thanks for looking.

Glass / Claude Morin bottle vase
« Last post by bat20 on Yesterday at 06:57:24 PM »
Hi, this is my first Claude Morin piece and most likely the last !I suppose just a piece that got through the net?.There doesn’t seem to be a lot about him on here and he wasn’t on my radar either so please chip in if you know much about him .The piece is 22.5cm ht and I think every piece made was individual and during the late 60’s and through the 70’s,it’s a lovely cool and calm bottle with unapologetic tooling marks.

Glass / Stuart glass?
« Last post by Keith Mick on December 11, 2024, 03:46:56 PM »
Hi, any ideas on a maker and approx date for this glass? It's quite large at 7 1/8 inches or just over 18 cm tall and is well made, with enough wear to be back well into the 20th century. It has a polished pontil and a gorgeously cut stem in a pattern Stuart used for some of their designs. It also has an engraved crown on the bowl.
Any help appreciated
Cheers
Keith

Glass / Re: Mottled Glass Vase Impressed Mark

To me it looks like a glass blower, maybe.
See the entry for Corning

Other makers have used an impressed image of a glass blower, so it may not be identical to yours.

Hello and welcome.  :)

Googling the name brought this link from 2021 up.
https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/19378918.watford-glass-company-sold-vases-buckingham-palace/

I have copied and pasted this bit from the bottom of the article. If you were to contact them they might be able to help?

"Watford Museum has now reopened to the public. Admission is free but book first – call 01923 232297 or email info@watfordmuseum.org.uk. For more information, visit www.watfordmuseum.org.uk"

Having said that, your vase is not what would be called a traditional cut, but a rather more scarce kind known as "Art Cut", which was tried by a few companies around the 1930s. It was not as popular as anticipated at the time, but it is appreciated much more now.
I'm sorry, but we do not give valuations. What something is worth is what somebody else is willing to pay for it, in that location, at that time. It can get very contentious arguing about money and we don't want to get bogged down with that, or have accusations leveled at us if something disappoints.
Once you have a identity, you can search the web yourself for previous sales to get a ball-park figure.
We're here to identify glass.

Glass / Identify Watford Crystal Vase
« Last post by TiffanyF on December 10, 2024, 11:34:08 AM »
name is Tiffany and I live in Australia.  I would like to see if anyone can help me find some information about this  Watford Crystal vase.

A few years ago my elderly neighbour moved and gifted me a very large crystal vase.  I have attached some photos below.  The label says it’s Watford Crystal.  I would like to find out a bit more about it, like its age and the name of the patten and approx value.

It measures 18” or 46cm tall.
Hope someone might be able to help me identify it

There's a bit of info re H.P. Sinclaire that you might find of interest here.
Also, as you're in the USA it might be worth seeing if you can track down a copy of the book "The Complete Cut and Engraved Glass of Corning" by Estelle Sinclaire Farrar & Jane Shadel Spillman, published by Crown, 1979, SBN 10: 0517534320 / ISBN 13: 9780517534328, as it has a section on the patterns of Sinclaire taken from the Corning Museum of Glass Archives.  Estelle Sinclaire Farrar also wrote two other books about H.P. Sinclaire that would be worth tracking down if possible.
thank you for the additional information. i will keep an eye on these books
