Just to add a little to this vase, it likely dates to the early 70s.

I was talking to a collector of his work a while ago who previously knew Bernard personally and also owned an unpublished (as far as I understand) book of Bernard Rooke's work by Richard & Elizabeth Thorpe dated 2001.

One of the pictures shows Bernard Rooke blowing glass in the early 1970s, so probably slightly early than first thought. I do have a copy of the picture from the book if of interest, although didn't want to post directly on the board due to copyright, although he thinks Bernard wouldn't mind!

Almost certainly Chris Thornton, I gather he was one of Sam's students at Buckinghamshire College in the 1980's, Sam's influence can be seen in some of his work.

 :)
As you may have realised, we don't do valuations, but fully understand why you want the correct information. You know it's a good name. But I don't think there is anything desperately unusual, old or different about it. It should raise its own price at auction but I don't think you'll be anywhere close to near retiring.  ;)

Now we know he must have had at least a little practise for either the goblet or the jug.

Thanks everyone so far. Hugely appreciated.

Ultimately, I am trying to determine its value, to then make a decision about what to do with it. Hence hoping to find out if anyone knows when it is from, or what "collection" it is part of, how rare it is, etc. Had hoped it would be a simple task, but can't find any details about it anywhere online. beyond that label on the box.

Any other ideas or suggestions on this warmly welcome.

Thanks again!

Murano & Italy Glass / Re: Murano duck - but who actually made it?

Out of interest, this pair of ducks also have a Formia Label and look to me more like Lambden’s example than the op’s or the Formia labeled example in glassobsessed’s link. They have crimped feathers: https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/48019817_pair-formia-vetri-di-murano-art-glass-ducks

The op’s looks better quality to me than the one in glassobsessed’s link?

I like this one, also with a Formia label: https://www.liveauctioneers.com/en-gb/item/56344123_vintage-murano-art-glass-duck

Gorgeous :)

And someone bought that vase in the sale link and bought a complete bargain.  His engraving is stunning and I'm very envious of that sale/the buyer :)

ah - I'd say you're on the money with Chris Thornton.  Maybe contact?
