Glass / Re: Help with 18th century wine glass?
« Last post by neil53 on April 13, 2025, 05:17:13 PM »
Hi, the glass looks like a Georgian (c1760) multi spiral opaque twist wine glass with bell bowl.  The only thing that worries me is that the foot doesn't look right, but it could just be the angle of the photo.  Can you post a photo from side on and of the underside of the foot?  (If you don't know how then just save you photos to your computer, right click on the image (if using MS) and open with paint.  Go to the  "Resize and skew" option at the top left, click on pixels, change the "horizontal" to 500 and save as a .jpeg.) Kind regards, Neil

Glass / Small glass vase with metal trim?
« Last post by neil53 on April 13, 2025, 05:12:08 PM »
Hi, I picked this up on eBay the other day as it had that Luneville, France look about it.  The decoration on the outside appears to be metal.  Any ideas as to origin.  I seem to remember somebody pointing me to a Romanian artist the last time I had a glass and metal item but this feels French.  It is only 6.8 cm high.  Kind regards, Neil

There are two possible designers mentioned in the catalogues, Goran Warff and Uno Westerberg.

Scandinavian Glass / Pukeberg glass square bottle/carafe
« Last post by Keith Mick on April 12, 2025, 03:17:35 PM »
Hi, anyone know who designed this bottle or carafe and when they were made? Doesn't seem fitted for a stopper so perhaps used a cork? It's approx 27 cm tall and is cased up to the neck, with a mottled external finish. Still has the remains of the original label.
Any help appreciated
Cheers
Keith

Anne that's an inspired find.  And to the OP, you have a very beautiful piece of sculpture.

I think it's David Prytherch (based in Birmingham, UK), see a similar one listed here at Fieldings Auctioneers last year.

Glass News / Re: Ivo Haanstra

Thank you for posting this Christine. Angela and I had just heard on the grapevine also but we hadn't any confirmation or details. Many condolences to Andy and their wider families.

Ivo was one of the stalwarts of this board, he's been here since its inception, and was a valued member of it and of the committee that helps oversee it. He leaves us a legacy of his glass knowledge and wisdom, not only in his glass books, but also here on the board, he will be greatly missed.

Could it possibly be David Reekie who makes cast glass sculptures with heads?

This looks like Pate de verre or cast glass to me. It feels familiar but I cannot think of where I've seen them unfortunately.

The first word of the name might be David (Or Daniel but I thought it looked more like David)?
