Title: Textured Ashtray
Post by: adam20 on September 24, 2012, 04:28:50 PM
Ashtray in smoky glass with texture to outer sides very much in scandinavian style - 3.5" diam, 2" high - flat polished base with no marks, thick walls that have been finely polished to rim - bought today and wondered if anyone had ideas.

Thanks Adam

The colour and texture make me think Klinger, early 1960s, ZBS.
Or I could be completely mistaken.

I would agree -- that acid etched pattern and aubergine brown colour look very much ZBS.
Just one thing to add: in an older thread someone brought up that this colour was possibly later, 1980s or so...
(but not sure if this is true)

Have you any pics or links to similar, I am just learning about Czech factories. I have only seen the biomorphic type ZBS by Klinger.

You can find examples of this texture on Jan Kilian's site: http://www.glaskilian.de/Aced.690.0.html?&L=1  Also, Jindrich's Ceskoslovenske Sklo website: http://www.webareal.cz/ceskoslovenskesklo/25-STARE-CLANKY-OLD-ARTICLES/1004-Miloslav-Klinger
