Title: Murano Vaseline Glass Fish
Post by: mhgcgolfclub on May 30, 2009, 02:35:06 PM
My first post on the Murano board, I bought these today not what I usually buy but these I quite like, I assume that they are Murano vaseline glass fish, both very similar , I would like to know what date they may be and any possible designer or are they just Murano glass mass made, the bases do show some age, they each weigh about 1.2kg and measure about 8.5" or 21cm tall

thanks for looking and any possible help

Roy

Hello, Do they react to a black light?

They are not typically my thing either, and Anita may be able to help, but the color combo strikes me as Da Ros for Cenedese.

This is a tough one. The body form of the fish, particularly the eye, reminds me of fish made by Archimede Seguso or Fratelli Toso. The backward placement of the sommerso vessel reminds me more of Cenedese. The colors remind me most of Cenedese, but were also used by other companies. e.g. A. Seguso. If I had to guess, I would say either A. Seguso or Cenedese, but I am very likely to be wrong. I would not be surprised if the fish were in the 1960s. Maybe someone will run across one with this body form soon. The cut, curved tail and low pectoral fins are pretty distinctive.

Thanks Anita for that , I never ever buy Murano type glass but I just liked these, they came from charity shop and cost £20.00 which seemed to be very reasonable.

The only other thing I would say is the colour is more of a red than the orange that the pictures make them look.

Thanks again Roy
