8 cm long,no marks,any ideas please,reminds me of an underplate I got recently,

Yep, it's Murano. Now get that beautiful egg out of that awful piece of pressed glass. (Chippendale pattern?)

It's sitting in a WF's bowl at the moment,can't find a place for it as it won't stand on it's own,

Napkin rings are ideal for displaying them on (my sister used to collect marble eggs, and used them as stands). You can pick up single solid silver napkin rings on eBay quite cheaply because they're fairly useless for their original purpose when solo.
