Cristal de France (Vallérysthal, Portieux, Niderviller and St. Clement, Luneville.) is just about to pass into history... with just 4 days left to find a buyer.

Between you and me and the lamppost, the demise of Niderwiller would not be a great loss. Their style of decorated table china went out long time ago, it was amazing they survived this long. As for Portieux/ Valerysthal, these have been bust for 30 years and a very small production of table crystal replaced the huge volumes of yesteryear. But other people do it better - it is the reality...

Yup, they do seem to have lost their 'industrial' creativity since the war. Like elsewhere a trend to the studio I guess.
