Fidenza Glass vase - looks very deco - Fidenza don't make decorative glass anymore and I don't know much about them - this feels 1960s but the style is so deco - it is 9.5" high and very heavy - marks 'Fidenza - Italy' to base - anyone help with a date or history - link - http://tinypic.com/b71fer.jpg

FIDENZA VETROARREDO is one of the main manufactures of glass bricks - the similarities can be no coincidence... :P

::) ow@ are you saying my beautiful vase looks like a Fidenza glass brick :o - I know they produce those now but back in the 50s, 60s they did decorative and table ware - this is from Millers fact file and their own website

Ivo has (?) for this companies start date - I can fill that in from their website as being around 40s - 50s - Ivo you say they make glass bricks, but you have in your book 'tableware', I suppose this vase is proof they made decorartive ware as well - I mean it is a nice vase? - I have seen sets of tumblers in w/f texture and bowls with 'Fidenza Italy' on 1950s onwards - I used to think they were a different company to the glass brick maker, until I saw on their site that they used to make some pretty nice moulded decorative stuff - Hey but Ivo, all respect I am not dissing you, I use your book all the time and it is rarely wrong

It's a year and years inlate reply...anyway i'll post.
Fidenza Vetraria was a glassware company place in Fidenza, near Parma, Italy.
It's started to manufacture glass for Glass Insulator (Folembray license), lighting (Holophane license) in the early years of the 1920.
Then started also to manufacture glassware and glass bricks.
In the end of the eighties owned the Saivo glass company, where moved the glass bricks production, in Florence.
In 1991 Bormioli Rocco bought Fidenza plants and item, but left the glass bricks to Vetroarredo, today the Seves company in Florence and other ww plants.
Fidenza since the end of the seventies stopped to produce lighting and insulator.
Today the fidenza Plant is still a Bormioli Rocco plant and some glassware item are still on the catalogue.

I've picked up a few Fidenza vases, glasses, bowls, creamer sets etc over the years, so it would be good to know of any catalogues that could be consulted.
The latest Bormioli Rocco catalogue is available on their website.
There's an old Fidenza lighting catalogue for sale on eBay at the moment.

Well, of course I'm putting all the infos thanks the fact that I'm managing catalogues and that I work in this field. I'm rearranging all the historical materials for Bormioli, crossing all the infos and bringing back a lot of historical samples.
Speaking about Bormioli of course means that I collected infos also about other companies that during the years produced glassware in Italy. As I told, I'll speak about machines made glass, not lead crystal glass, not murano, not empoli....
So if you have questions...or needs help to give a name to some items or marks.....ask without problems.
