Title: Large Possible Murano or Czech Cased & Twisted Beak Glass Vase - Opinions Sort..
Post by: Greg. on October 27, 2021, 02:13:02 PM
Hi All,

Would welcome any thoughts on this large twisted/ribbed beak vase, which has a cranberry inner core, with a layer of yellow and then green and and blue swirls which run up through the vase. The base is flat and highly polished and there is a very slight bevel to the outer edge. To me the vase has whispers from both Murano and Czechoslovakia, would welcome any further thoughts.

Height: 36.5cm
Weight: 3.6kg

Please see attached photos, over the next couple of posts.

Many thanks,
Greg

Just to update the Murano firm Ferro Lazzarini  have confirmed this vase as one of theirs.

Not sure why the original photos are no longer showing.

It was a server issue, Greg, now fixed. :)

ooh have they?  That's great news Greg! and really interesting.

Off to do a bit of investigating on another vase of mine.
Thanks for coming back and updating.

Hi M, as quite often is the case, I was looking for something else and found another vase with a similar colouring/construction to my vase and emailed Ferro & Lazzarini, who very kindly confirmed it was one of the theirs! - Pleased to finally have an attribution after a few years!

And that's how these ids happen :) so fortuitous.
I saw your vase and it immediately reminded me of mine - definitely the colours and the colour of the clearer glass:

I think Ferro & Lazzarini is definitely a possibility for your vase M.

The other example that I came across that lead me to contact Ferro & Lazzarini is shown in the below link. It looks to be a bit of a mix between your piece and mine.  It might be worth dropping Ferro &  Lazzarini an email, there is a contact email address on their website.

Thanks Greg.  I may send them an email. Apologies for the diversion on your thread.

In the meantime I'd forgotten about Andy's information on this thread where he believes his version might be from Arte Nuova Murano:
https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,41541.msg265637.html#msg265637

Looking that up and re-reading in reference to my vase, 20th Century Glass has this information on it:
https://www.20thcenturyglass.com/glass_encyclopedia/murano_glass/artenuova_glass/
It states the designers involved may include:
Itamo Pustetto, Licio Zanetti, Mario Fuga, Aldo Fuga, Nino D'Este, and Alessandro Lenarda.
So no Ferro and Lazzarini.

To be honest I can't see anything on net searches that links mine to Arte Nuova Murano.
Therefore I think it is definitely worth and email and thank you so much.
