I checked Amazon tonight to see if the Heireman's Seguso book was out yet. I saw that you can preorder it now at http://www.amazon.com/Seguso-Vetri-dArte-Objects-Murano/dp/3897901625. It must be quite a book. I didn't see anything about when it was expected to be in stock.
-
But the question is, Anita-have you ordered your book?...that is some hefty price...no doubt i'll be raiding the bank again to obtain my copy!

I think I will wait till it is actually in stock this time. Should be out in a few months as per Marc's previous post.
-
No, I didn't preorder. With the price, I'd rather read some reviews first. Then I will have to give my piggy bank a serious shaking to see if I have enough pennies.
-
It's marked as release for 30th of this month according to Arnoldsche's website. Amazon UK states this date, too, and has it at just £47 - but with the old front cover (but a semi-correct title and the correct ISBN).
I've taken a punt on pre-ordering it on the off-chance that they'll honour it after they notice the new RRP is a bit crazy.
-
The website now says November 30, Nic, with a price of 198 Euros, plus shipping. I'll wait for the reviews, although 10 years of research, 400 pages, and 2000 illustrations sounds tempting. I think I'll be nice until Christmas and hope Santa is a GMB member.

I misread the Arnoldsche site anyway - it just says 'October 2013' in their upcoming publications list.
Not much good if it states 30th November elsewhere on the same site, though.
-
The publishing date has moved to Jan 2014. For now.
-
The date has moved again! ARGH...now mid April :(
-
I wonder if they aren't getting enough preorders to justify publishing it. It is a bit pricey for us common folk, particularly given the climate of the Murano market at the moment.
-
Moved again, now mid May of some year!
-
I doubt it will ever come out. Maybe the can't get enough preorders at the price being asked to justify printing it.
-
It is quite expensive...but I don't like to preorder as it is annoying when they keep changing the date!

This seems reasonable!!

Pre-orders is probably the reason. An expensive book that probably cannot be justified during a worldwide recession, and I guess they're looking for a good proportion of a 1,000+ print run to fulfil. But I note the Amazon page quotes a publication date of 2006, which is quite odd. However, publishers will often quote a future date when the book is in progress - has it been that long in development?
The Book Depository also quotes an end-May date.
-
According to the Arnoldsche website there's now 10 days before they either finally release the book... or before they noticed that they forgot to bump it forward another couple of months.
Probably the latter.
-
I ordered my copy from Amazon over the weekend and just received it.....it is just WOW!
-
Patience paid off for me - I've had a pre-order with Amazon for over a year, when they listed it briefly at £43. Arrived this morning.
It's what all glass reference books should aspire to be - short on waffle and obvious decorative filler, heavy on hundreds and hundreds of useful images!
