:t: there:
This is a very heavy, heavy thick bowl (or ashtray) in Amber. It has like 3 pulled lobes on the outside of the bowl. Good wear on the bottom. I am thinking Chalet, or ??? or something else (Chribska ??? ) . It is about 7.5 inches wide....and 3 inches tall. I believe it is older (1960's or so...) by the wear --- just not sure of the maker.
Thanks, any ideas on Maker, and the year? Help :help:

Judging by the triangular base, the colour and the form, I'd say Harrachov, Czechoslovakia. I haven't seen this form before although Skrdlovice did a similar piece. Late 50's early 60's? I've also seen a similar piece attributed to Lorraine, but I had my doubts. There's a fair bit of Harrachov around Canada.

Thanks David!! :kissy:
That was what I was think Czech (or chalet) --- but not sure on this one. Glad that you feel it is Czech too. See if anyone else has any ideas too as I am confused :ho: on this too.
But when I am not.... ;D

Hello Rose
I just did a search on Harrachov as your piece reminded me a bit of one I have and the turquoise example shown here looks to have a similar pulled lobe (I'm quite new to the Forum so I hope I'm not doing anything wrong by posting the link!)
http://www.20thcenturyglass.com/glass_encyclopedia/bohemian_glass/harrachovglass_home.htm
It also has a reference for the piece so might help you in your investigations.

Helen:
It's really useful to put links like that in when you're suggesting an attribution. The pieces you link to are the same models I have that led me to suggest Harrachov. You can see them at https://picasaweb.google.com/lasilove/CzechoslovakiaHarrachovInclHarrtil#
However, I can't recall seeing a Harrachov piece with pulled lobes like Rose's piece, which makes me hesitate about being totally certain of the Harrachov attribution. Here's a couple of pictures of a Skrdlovice piece also with puled lobes.

Phew. Thanks for reassuring me that I hadn't committed a faux pas David. Having just looked at your link, I've got severe Harrachov glass envy and the desire to find out more. Much appreciated.

????
Found another one on the net......but who knows *where* they got their attribution from as Murano ??? (http://serve.mysmiley.net/sign/sign0167.gif)

~ Four (4) years later....
Could mine - be the same as this one (Wayne's)??
? Possible ? SKRDLOVICE ? (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Skrdlovice-Czech-Smokey-Amber-Glass-Sculpture-Bowl-/360498082946?pt=UK_Art_Glass&hash=item53ef5c3482)
Thanks for your opinions on my unknown hunk of glass... ;)

Over here we call these Bat Wings & yes they may be Murano. I've found several over the years with generic Murano labels.

Thanks Ohio.....the mystery shall remain
I just thought it looked so much (in so many of the angles) like the one in the link I just posted
:-*
Bat wings, never heard of that - but true

Hi there:
Was given ( via another forum ) an attribution of:
~ Skrdlovice - BOHUSLAV BERANEK ( 1952 ) a 'popelnik' or ashtray. PATTERN No. is 5233 ~
(http://www.pic4ever.com/images/47b20s0.gif) ..........Finally, 4 years later !!
Wayne also has one like in on Ebay *HERE (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Skrdlovice-Czech-Smokey-Amber-Glass-Sculpture-Bowl-/360498082946?pt=UK_Art_Glass&hash=item53ef5c3482)

Hi Rose,
I have always considered this a piece of Skrdlovice but I have always assumed pattern number 5464 Rudolf Beranek. It is a matter of opinion really, a nice thing, found in lots of classic Skrdlovice colourways,
