Finding it difficult to find comparisons for this piece so I thought I’d test my resizing skills again.
A uranium Harald Vase.

now you're just boasting of your new found skill of how to show that the outer molecules of the U. atoms are activated by the wavelength of the u.v. light, and jump about with excitement, and in so doing create this fluorescent psychedelic colour green - I think ;) Such a shame that all those guys from c. 1840 to c. 1950s didn't get to see this light show. :'(
I don't know if this stuff is as popular as it once was - there seems little at boot fairs these days in comparison with say ten years ago.
Sorry to seem dim, but what is the significance of the word 'Harald'?

“Harald” is just the name of the vase, hard to judge if it’s popular as I haven’t found a comparison in green ;) So I thought it would be good to share.

There was the historical Viking figure, "The Child Harald". I don't know much about the story, but I'm sure there's some epic poem about it.

Presumably nothing to do with saucy old Lord George Gordon Byron, who wrote something called Childe Harold's 'Pilgrimage' - medieval everyman sort of tale.
When I looked first at this centre figurine, I thought it was a woman holding a baby, but am sure that must be wrong - the illumination was dazzling me.
Anyway, it's a v.g. example of how u. glass should glow.

I think Harald is one of the less common Walther pieces in any colour but they generally did things in green, pink, blue and amber

Mike, I can't add anything to the discussion of the piece, but wanted to say that is a super photo of a uranium glass piece, your resizing skills are a success, and the photo even more so. :)

Thanks Anne, it's amazing what you can find in your local charity shop. It was minus Lucretia which I later found on eBay. I visit my local charity shop a lot more frequent now. On the same day I found a walther uranium 3 graces centre piece in a house clearance sale both prieces found within a couple of miles of each other.... I should have bought a lottery ticket that day...

Oh yes you should have! ;D I love charity shops - hubby knows I can't pass one without just nipping into have a quick peek, and I invariably find something to take home with me!
