Title: Large Rhino Seguso Vetri murano sculpture - ID = Gianni Seguso, Murano
Post by: RHINOGLASS on March 07, 2021, 06:03:36 PM
I have this Vetro Artistico Murano, Seguso Vetri Murano Rhino / Obelisk sculpture that I can't find anywhere. The Size and weight is impressive. I'm looking to sell this and was wondering the best marketplace for it to be offered. Thank you.

Hi and welcome.  :)
Without seeing it, we can't help very much. There is a possibilty you have something rather serious, which would be best sold in a specialist glass auction with a worldwide audience.
But it might not be. I would not want to get your hopes up only for them to be dashed. It would depend on what design it was, how it is finished and a host of other details.
We do have plenty of techie help and support for posting images, here;-

Looking forward to seeing it!

I tried to post a photo(jpeg) but even just the 1 photo was too large to be posted. I'm not sure how to get the photo posted? Thank you

The original price tag from IL TRITTICO FOR $7500.00 is still attached to it.

Just go to the link I posted and find the section that tells you how to use the partucilar systems you have to resize. I can't give you the correct one for you, as I do not know which systems you have. There are free downloads available, such as Irfanview.

 :o  WOW!  ;D
Italian glass is not my area. But that is something truly fantastic. I think it might be a bit newer than I was expecting.
You definitely need a specialist, world-wide auction for that.
Is there a signature on it anywhere? You might need to look very carefully to find a mark, but I cannot imagine somebody who made that did not sign it.

Sotheby's and Bonham's specialist glass auctions would be right ones.
Please, be aware that I am not somebody who knows about Italian glass. I'm just using my personal judgement from what I can see in those photos. And I cannot get close enough to be able to see much detail, I cannot really tell how well made it is. It looks as if it should be very well made.

I would call it a sculpture.  :)
I looked up el trittico - it translates into triptych. Is that the name of the shop?
It does not appear to be a glass company.

Thank you. On the backside of the Rhino are 3 stickers. 1.SEGUSO VETRI MURANO. 2. VETRO ARTISTICO MURANO 3. MADE IN MURANO ITALY.  I will look it over more closely for a signature.

Funny I looked up Vetro Artistico the other day, as there was a listing on a well-known auction site (not sure if I am allowed to mention it), that stated that was the maker, upon searching it, I came across this:

WHAT IS THE TRADEMARK VETRO ARTISTICO® MURANO?

It is a proof of origin provided by the Veneto Region in compliance with the law 70, passed on December 23 1994. It certifies that products have been made on the island of Murano, according to glass making tradition. It is managed by Consorzio Promovetro.

Thank you for that information. I have done some more researching and also found a signature of Gianni Seguso on the bottom of the Rhino. It is Vetro Artistico made by Gianni Seguso.

Whew, vindicated.  ;D
I have done a search, and I found this which seems to be related to your Rhino.

But this style of highly complex thing still seems to be very unusual. I am so glad you found a signature! 8)

In the stickers, you have all you need to ID it.

:) Rhinoglass said he's found a signature of Gianni Seguso on the bottom of the Rhino, Ardy.
Stickers have been known to migrate, but as far as I'm concerned, this amazing glass sculpture speaks for itself.  ;D ;D ;D
But it has all the stickers and the signature! A full house. :)
