Title: My wonderful 50s Skrdlovice mystery vase
Post by: Anik R on October 06, 2011, 11:56:16 AM
I'm very excited about my newest Skrdlovice addition, though it's still a bit of a mystery...

The vase is 21cm tall and about 11cm across at its widest. It's got 4 rounded lumps going around the top, middle and bottom, those near the base being the most pronounced.  It weighs 1763g and is an odd turbid-yellowish colour.

It's a fantastic piece, quite different from any other I've got or seen.
And I simply wanted to show it off a bit. ;D

Very nice, Anik!

Is it two-coloured? (Or is the grey layer just a reflexion?)

Hi Michael... the vase is just one colour -- a light yellowish-grey (like watered down chicken soup that has been standing around for a week).  Certainly an odd colour.   :)   Robert has told me it might be a Jaroslav Beranek design.

What is the mystery?

The mystery is that the pattern number / designer of the piece can only be estimated at this time.  The Skrdlovice designs catalogue does show a very similar vase, however, the dimensions do not correlate with my item.  As such, I cannot definitively say it's a fine example of xxxx by xxxxxxxxxxx.
