Title: Split: Tiny Bud Vases - Lobed
Post by: Anne on September 15, 2005, 12:17:11 AM
Thanks Pat, I'll try contacting them as well and see what I get. I think sometimes it depends on who gets the e-mail as to how helpful they are. ;)  BTW it's not the first time your site has been useful to me. :)

I don't suppose you would know who may have made these tiny stem vases would you? They are 10cm/4inches tall, have a four-lobed foot, and came to me all the way from Australia, but they aren't marked. The seller thought they were Scandinavian.  Any suggestions welcome. ;)    http://yobunny.org.uk/gallery1/displayimage.php?pos=-217

Hi Anne,
I've recently bought one very similar to your vases, but mine has 6 lobes.  I'll post a picture later.  I'm afraid I can't identify yours yet. What might help is a detailed picture of the underside of the base, mine has a definite circular depression.

The vases I identified were designed by Stennett Willson. See link below.

Anne,

I'm sure I've seen a bud vase with four lobed feet similar to yours - with a label. I'm 60% sure (it was quite some time ago and I didn't keep a visual record) that it was SEA Glasbruk. I also remember seeing a set of fruit dishes with similar feet.

Sorry it that's a bit inconclusive...but may be worth exploring  :D  :D  :D  :D

Hi Anne,
Here are the pictures I promised of my vase which is similar to yours.  I haven't identified it yet.  It looks quite new to me.
The pictures are not as clear as I would have liked, but it shows the base fairly well.  It will be interesting to compare the finish with yours.

How's the decorating coming on?  We've just has our ceilings replastered in the hall and kitchen. It was a messy job so, I'll have to tackle those rooms very soon!

I had forgotten about it and intended to do a photo of the base of mine.  I'll see if I can get one done over the next few days.

Pat, thanks for your pic... the bases on mine aren't twisted like yours - they are just round blobs (for want of a better description!)

Robbo, thank you. Oddly enough I have fruit dishes (in a golden amber colour) as well - they also have the same sort of blob feet but they are, of course much bigger. Pic of the fruit dish is here: http://yobunny.org.uk/gallery1/displayimage.php?pos=-547 I think these have 5 blobs (from memory).

Anne for future reference, I have now seen your vase in blue and a peachy/pink both labelled "Made in Sweden"

Wooooh! Thanks Pat, you've a good  memory too - this goes back a long time! ;) And I've still not added pics of the bases bad gal that I am. I'll add it to the list for the next batch of pics.  Sweden would tie in with robbo's Sea Glasbruk perhaps?
