I spoted this last week and realised it was well made but not being sure of the maker thought to bid up to £80-100.
When it went past £500 I thought "oh I probably wont be buying this one" Then it ended at over £9000 I was amazed. Can anyone throw some light on this please? who made it and when?
Cheers.

I think it was a very rare Pantin paperweight - hence the price. French, 19th century.

I wonder if the seller has been able to stop smiling?

but is the price usual?
-
I don't think you can use the term usual but it is probably a very good price for the buyer.

Hi everybody,
Many thanks for posting this question (and Alan for answering it). I had spotted this weight as old French but was unable to decide which maker...
