Hello, never seen a piece of Okra like this before, could we see a picture of the mark on the base please, ;D
-
And it would be good if you could get some photos that focus on the object.
If you are using a camera that has a "close focus" setting (icon = flower; or similar), then make sure that is selected. Or perhaps the camera cannot focus because of the overall, plain effect of the glass surface. Maybe try a photo from a further distance?

Also, what are the sizes of this item? Is it actually a paperweight or a "torso figurine"?
-
Hi,
this is an OKRA TORSO and is featured in the OKRA 1999 catalogue. Each piece was limited to 15 examples, so is quite rare. The original price of this piece was £395 and is listed as a sculpture rather than as a paperweight. The TORSO is 5 1/2" high.
Regards,
Tony P.S. I have the 1998 and 1999 catalogues with price lists if anyone is interested. Send a message.

:o I wouldn't have thought that was Okra, have a small collection and have seen lots but nothing like that, ::) ;D ;D

Hi Keith,
attached are extracts from the 1999 catalogue.

Thanks Tony, were these by Golding or one of the other artists ? ;D

The catalogue images say designed, made and signed by Sarah Cowan, Keith. :)

Time for spec-savers ::) ;D ;D

Hi, that does look like one the torso's that Sarah Cowan used to make at the Enterprise trading Estate incarnation of Okra, my knowledge of Okra comes from being an ex employee of the Studio in the 1980's, 90's and I did a bit for Dean and Karry before the Queen Street studio was closed (a difficult time for me as I had a health problem).
The Enterprise era of Okra was quite a turbulent period with a lot of ego's and the guys constantly needed a lot of guidance/instruction from Richard.
