Title: Pressed glass bowl with centre square - Is it Bernsdorf?
Post by: Anne E.B. on June 28, 2015, 10:03:55 AM
This lovely shallow bowl reminds me very much of Bernsdorf pieces that I have had in the past, except there is a centre square.  I think it might have held a trumpet shape vase flower holder at one time, as searches for a figurine of some sort with a square base to fit in it have been unsuccessful.  I've taken an image of the base too as it might have sat on something else at one time, may be a plinth?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
TIA :-*

Don't know who made it but it requires a vase like this

and will also fit together the other way up as a comport

Thanks Christine.
A lot of work has gone into decorating your version. Very pretty.
I'll have to look out for a matching vase and in the meantime will continue my search for a maker.

It is decorated on both sides in a mirror image!! Though of course there is some loss on both sides but this generally doesn't coincide.
