Title: Is this Seguso - Pink aventurine and ribbing
Post by: ardy on October 26, 2009, 05:53:12 AM
I am a little bit concerned about this one. It is smaller than the 'book' says but it has the right form etc. It is in amazing condition and apart from a couple of small marks on the base could have been made a couple of weeks ago.....  HA! lets hope not.

It is 7 3/4" (195) high and about 4" (100) diameter in middle. It weighs 2lb 1oz (940g).

Hope stirs again in a lost collectors heart.

The color and form looks like it could be Archimede -- without the s! Vases are often made in different sizes, so it is really the design that matters.

Thanks a lot Anita - I checked the form against the Pina book before buying but the seller said there used to be a Archimede(sans s) Seguso label on it but the colour was black. I have never heard of a label of his that was black so I was a bit concerned.

Ardy:

Gorgeous piece. If I bought a piece like this, I'd be convinced I had great taste.

Thanks a lot David - funnily nobody bid on it - Strange days.

There is a seller here in OZ who is selling items that look a bit like this but with multiple colours and they are going like hot cakes, I am sure they are good quality copies. Then something like this comes up and nobody is interested.

I think we both have reasonable taste, particularly after seeing your Hartill pieces, the problem is I can't afford the taste buds I have inherited.

The polished base seems to have that slightly duller look that comes with age . no rude comments please .

Thanks John, Kane and Tami,

It's the advantage of being retired and time rich, even if my base is slightly duller John!  8)
