Title: Walther cloud glass vase???
Post by: glasswizard on January 07, 2006, 12:39:48 PM
Here is a piece of cloud glass I have had for a very long time.
It is 7 1/2 inches tall and the interior of it is satinized, that also includes the interior of the base. It has come to my attention that it could be by Walther. We don't have much experience with cloud glass here in Iowa, so any help in attribution would be appreciated. With Peter's help I have looked on the cloud glass site http://www.cloudglass.com/Walvase.htm and it looks like Hellas pattern, but its only 7 1/2 inches or 19 cm which is not a size shown. Thanks Terry

Mod: The image is, sadly, irretrievable. The thread has been retained for information.

Hi,

Your vase is a Hellas vase in sepia cloud glass and is most likely the number 31430 (20.5 cm) size. From our own experience actual sizes do vary from the size quoted in the catalogue.

Regards

Chris

Thank you Chris for the information. Cloud glass is not something we see much of here in the Midwest and I suspect that not much was imported to the States. Thanks also to Peter who identified it for me as cloud glass. I really had no idea what I had. Thanks again, Terry
