Hi,
Back again after some intensive Web designing.
I recently came across a marvellous green frosted 'jug' (only called such because of the weird 'handle' - which isn't!) that I hope someone can ID. It measures 9" (23cm) high and has a mottled effect to the glass. The most significant point is the bronze 'handle', which is startling in its total wackiness! The base has been ground, although there is concave centre that doesn't feature a pontil mark.

Could almost be called a Jack in the Pulpit, but I don't think this was the designer's intention. Here are the piccies:
Jug 1 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/dencill/GreenFrostedJug/green-bronze01.jpg)
Jug 2 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/dencill/GreenFrostedJug/green-bronze02.jpg)
Jug 3 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/dencill/GreenFrostedJug/green-bronze03.jpg)
Jug 4 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/dencill/GreenFrostedJug/green-bronze04.jpg)
Jug 5 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/dencill/GreenFrostedJug/green-bronze05.jpg)
Anyway, any help would be much appreciated.
With thanks,
David E

I think this is Romanian glass, isn't it? :? I believe Leni has one similar...

Are you sure you haven't got a pink one with metal tucked away somewhere? Someone on here has one... (http://www.smileys.ws/sm/confused/00000007.gif)

Hi both,
Thanks for the progress - even if you can't decide
I'm Googling for Romanian Glass to see if this reveals anything - thanks for the suggestion.

Edit: Maker: Vadan?

So somewhere in Eastern Europe then!

Hi,
Tubi Vadan's work is pretty close, so thanks for that Max. In fact, if you look at:

This is almost identical apart from the splashes of colour! Great stuff.

Mmmm, yes, it's terribly undervalued isn't it? You certainly get a great piece of artglass for your money!  :D

Hi,
I agree - stunning looking stuff with an Art Nouveau appearance. Fooled me for a bit :)

Another Romanian glass artist using similar techniques and styles is Dan Bancila:

DOH!
Yes, I have a Vadan vase - but mine is not very like David's, that's why I didn't connect it.
As David says, his (and the Tubi Vadan stuff on ebay) is quite 'Art Nouveau' whereas mine is very solid and 'modern' looking - here's the pic http://tinypic.com/51aryc which is why I didn't instantly think of it
But it's definitely not pink!

Hi Leni,
Definitely not pink and I can see why you didn't make an immediate connection.
But this looks more like the work of Dan Bancila, perhaps?

David, my Vadan is signed. Is there a signature anywhere on your 'jug' vase?
It does look a lot like the Bancila, too. Does he sign his work, I wonder?

No sig - the vase/jug/thingy/whatsit is completely blank. I did take a photo of the base but it's not terribly exciting :!:
From a style point it does look Bancila, so it was interesting to be proved wrong!
I can only assume yours is from a Studio range, perhaps, hence the signature.
