Title: Strange Hot Worked Freeform Streaky Vase???
Post by: LEGSY on April 03, 2024, 03:22:20 PM
Found this piece recently i could not resist it's colorings and the almost naive
free from it has been made, The rim has been hot worked i think is the term
maybe to make it nice and smooth the base has a kick up and the remnants
of where it was blown from which again has been smoothed over with heat i
would think?? The vase has the sort of internal colors i have seen before on
French art glass pieces i have had and were also employed by Harrach pieces
too i am thinking out loud but it also reminds me of some Holmegaard work
as well  ??? The base on inspection has a nice ring of wear very fine scuffed
parts so not modern i would not think.  It measures 5" t x 4" w Thank you for
taking a look  :)

your base photograph doesn't enlarge.  Does it have a snapped off pontil mark? or a finely polished pontil mark?
If snapped off my first thoughts might be a studio piece maybe?

Thanks for replying yes i agree it might be studio glass i have attached another couple of pictures
hopefully a bit clearer. The pontil scar has been snapped i would think then it has been heat treated
i would imagine to give it a smoothed over finish so taken their time with it in my opinion quite nicely
