A good place to start is the Glass Encyclopedia at http://www.glassencyclopedia.com/. If you forget the link later, you can find it in the top right corner of the message board's pages. There is a book listed under the Murano link that is very good for beginners. It is Leslie Pina's Italian Glass Century 20. It is on the last row of the book links. It is economical and gives an idea of what to look for in glass by the "Quality Circle" of Murano companies.
