Just spotted this bowl on ebay yesterday. I was sure it looked familiar, but couldn't place it:

Anyway, this morning I was looking through Baker & Crowe and I think I've found it! Fig.8. on p.16 shows an image of the Jobling Display at the 1939 British Industries Fair (Originally from The Pottery Gazette, Apr. 1939). On an upper tier of the display, just to the right of the jade oval jardiniere is a bowl which looks remarkably like the one in the link. Sadly the photo is quite small, but I'm fairly sure it's the same pattern - what do our other members with access to Baker & Crowe think?
I'll e-mail the seller later (have to go to work now!) and ask if we can use their photo for reference (and also ask if they have any photos under natural light).

you've obviously a remarkably good memory for images Steven - but I'd agree it does look the same as the one in the book, which appears to be an example in clear glass. well spotted. :)

Hi Steven, I agree with you - it looks remarkably like the one in the exhibition photo. Not a design I recall seeing before anywhere, so possibly not common... short production due to onset of the war perhaps? Christine doesn't appear to have one in her uranium collection...

Steven — well spotted. I've seen one before, many years ago. It was blue, I think, and I gave it to a local charity shop in a box of other buying mistakes. Got that badly wrong, didn't I? ;D
