Title: RCA Elizabeth Swinburne - One for Andy & Sue!
Post by: Greg. on March 15, 2010, 06:25:56 PM
Hi,

Just thought that I would pop a few pics of this up, sure Andy and Sue are interested in this kind of area.

Picked this up at the weekend for next to nothing!  Signed by Elizabeth Swinburne who was senior tutor of glass at the RCA a couple of years back, before moving to the Netherlands. Also attached a link from her website below for anyone interested:-

Enjoy!

All the best,
Greg

 :o
For me????  :-* ....
(and Andy too, I suppose  ::) )

Fascinating piece - the decoration is slightly scraffitto-ish inside, almost reminiscent of Aborigonal sand paintings and it also seems to be floating apart from the inner surface - is it a big and heavy beast?

Hi Sue,

Weighs 1.2kg - The pattern on the front is slightly raised to the touch, as if its been applied separately. The piece also has an etched code on the side, so hoping I might be able to find out a little more after a bit more research.

There certainly are a few rather unique pieces on her website!

All the best,
Greg

Hi Andy,

Code and signature were a bit hard to pic out with the camera, the code is 'L35'.

I might drop Elizabeth an email when I get a moment.  Hope you enjoy!

Cheers,
Greg
