Just for reference, here's a photo of two of the Kallio (rock) vases designed by Kai Blomqvist for Oy Kumela of Finland likely in the early seventies.
The amethyst vase is roughly square with distinct mould lines, the amber one is mostly round. Forgot to take measurements but Fire and Sea states 21cm for the amethyst so the amber will be about 24 or 25 cm tall.
Both are signed on the base "Kai Blomqvist" (http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-12753) and on the opposite side a somewhat difficult to decipher "Oy Kumela" (second photo).

The amber vase on the right is not a Kallio vase after all. ::)
It's called Petäjä, see here: http://www.designlasi.com/en/content/petaja-4611-blomqvist-kaj-en

Thanks John - I've never seen anything like the amber one before!
I rather like the contrast between the straight sides with fine detail and the huge lumpy bits.

The lumpy bits are extreme ;D, the vase is really growing on me - looks good in the window. Bought it thinking my Dad might like it, he has the Kallio vase but I think it was a bit too over the top for him. It has found a home here now.
