Title: Baccarat pansy ID
Post by: marc on January 30, 2014, 04:06:02 PM
 Hi all,

I've got this Baccarat faceted miniature pansy paperweight, 4.8 cm diameter
by 3 cm high,  star-cut base.
Is it Dupont or classic period?

 Many Thanks.
 Marc.

Hi.  I don't think it is a case of 'either / or'. The amber - rather than yellow - petals, and lack of clear imprinted veins on the leaves suggest it is later than 1845 - 1860, but it may not be as late as Dupont (ie 1920 - 1930). Baccarat made pansies all the way through from 1845 to 1930 or later, though not always in large numbers. I suspect this one is late 19th century, as it is quite well made.

Alan,

Thank you very much for your comment.
My doubt was due to the colour of the bottom petals is not as yellow as the clasic period, but the top petals are larger than the bottom ones, charateristic of this period.

Best regards.
Marc.
