Title: Whacky brown and orange 70's vase

Here is another of my purchases from this morning. I'm not sure if I can say I really like it, but it wasn't expensive and seemed... interesting. The colours shout 70's and the seller remembered it being bought in that decade. It is 39cm tall.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? I know,... if you did you probably didn't buy it.

Sort of thing that would grow on you, I think. But it does have an appeal. Looks quite well made, but sorry, nothing I could help with.

As a suggestion, is it worth using the 'Attach' fields to include the photos, as this creates nicely-sized thumbnails.

Silly question here, but could those scribbles stand for something?  MEW, or M3W, or M&W...

or for something like M & W for............Man & Woman?                 

Or a Company?  Just a thought? :spls2:

It looks like a contemporary vase to me, not 70s.  Is there very much wear to the base?   :)

 Yes it has a fair bit of wear.
I believe the person I got it from ( no need to fib at this price)who remembers it being bought new in the 70's.

I had or have a pair of mold blown vases in a very similar colour and with the same effect in the glass, produced by marvering small frits and then blowing out into the mold. The shape and size are different and they had no attachments. One had a "Bohemia Glass, Made in Czechoslovakia" label.
This type of glass may have been produced over several years or even decades but I can believe that yours was also made in Czechoslovakia in the 70's. The Czechs made some very quirky items in that decade.

My first impression was a florist market piece. The top rim looks to have been cut and the basal ring grinding was not polished. I think more factory than studio.

No, not studio. I didn't realise that there was any suggestion of that.
Yes a factory piece, as are my Bohemia pair. I can't remember their base finish. I suspect basic but not quite as rough and ready as this. I admit I didn't look. Cut rims were normal on a lot of Czech glass, much of which was destined for the mass market.
Floral ? Because of the size ? Possibly, altho not all glass used by florists is cheap stuff. I often notice  quite expensive vases from from Denmark being used in florists displays.

The top rim has been cut. I just bought it as it was so unusual. I can see how the florist use could be relevant as the vase is so tall.
