Title: Fenton satin custard bowl

I know who but I would like to know when and what pattern name please. A Fenton uranium satin custard glass bowl with a grape pattern, conveniently marked underneath. Surprising thick and heavy. I have a pair of these and one is very poorly pressed - the pattern is very indistinct.

Hi Christine - it's modern Fenton, of course, but the pattern is the old Imperial "Heavy Grape" one. Fenton call it a "Grape Cluster" nappy. I don't know when Fenton made the colour that that you have, but if the Fenton trademark/logo on the base has a number in it, then that will give you the decade. The mould was certainly in use in the 1970s in Carnival.

If it's Fenton only within the oval, with no number, then it is most likely the 1970s.

A quote from a photo caption in Heacock's "Fenton Third 25 years": "Custard satin was introduced in 1972 and was still in the line in 1983".

The Carnival version of the pattern is shown in a 1971 ad and a 1973 ad (same book).
