The vase measures 15cm in height. Chunky glass. It has the 4 dimpled sides. It's hard to photograph because of the reflection!
Thanks again for your help,

I think the designer is Rudolf Schrotter and designed in the 50s, made in lots of colours in Czechoslovakia. Sometimes known as a bullet vase, is yours uranium glass?

I see some very recent things from China that look much like this vase.

Thankyou for your replies. I looked up the name on Ebay and found someone selling one. It is titled Sklo Union Glass 'Lens' Vase by Rudolf Schrötter c 1955. It was full of cobwebs and a dead spider when I got it, so it must a genuine old one, not from China.
Thank you for your help in identifying it,
Best Wishes
Vickie

They were made in two sizes (that I have seen), around 15cm and 20cm I think. On page 46 of Sklo Union Art Before Industry there is a photo of one in clear glass next to a ceramic copy.

They have cobwebs and spiders in China too. ;D
Moulds do get sold sometimes, I wonder if any of these were bought by a company in China, or would they just make their own? Some Czech moulds ended up in Italy.
James, what did you see that reminds you of this design?
John.

and beware to put two of them together - they tend to breed!!! ;D

Looks good for Sklo Union to me! 8)

Hmmm - Interesting. Do I detect hints of attribution by popular vote? ;D

No, by reference to Marcus' book and CD, Bernard, both of which I'm *very* familiar with. 8)
I'm pretty sure this colour is what Marcus referred to as Spring Green when we were discussing it late last year when he was staying with us.

Anne - I'm greatly relieved to hear that. But, like John, I still would like to know more about what James saw.
