Post by: Gilead on March 19, 2008, 05:44:58 PM
Hi
could some one tell me if they have seen this engraved vase about, or whom made it please, it stands 9.5ins quite thick about 1/4inc the circles are smooth to the touch so must have been polished after being engraved on to the glass, the pattern on the side is also n the base, should this tell me something? this is one of two large blue vase's i bought today,

This is cased glass, cut-to-clear, and much of it is made in Bohemia I believe. One of the big producers of this style of glass is Egermann, which is a good starting point to check out: http://www.egermann.cz/?go=products&lang=en

I don't think this is Egermann.  Most of their cut-to-clear is stained, not cased, and it's not really typical of their designs.  There's a lot of cut-to-clear glass made in Poland and Romania as well as Czechoslovakia.  BTW, this isn't engraved, it's miter or "rich" cut.

Also now being made in China, just to add to the confusion!
