Title: Riihimäen/Riihimäki or neither ID = Empoli
Post by: vintageworld on March 08, 2011, 10:01:49 PM
Dear All
I would really appreciate some help and opinions on some vases/bottles that I bought as part of an auction. The other vases in the auction are Helena Tynell designs which is why I am thinking these might be Finnish as well?

Does the blue decanter have a badly fitting glass stopper?  It looks like a mass produced one I've got from Italy.   :)

PS:  Welcome to the GMB!

The stopper is all glass and not plastic on the bit that goes into the bottle if you know what I mean. Not sure if it is badly fitting although it seems a bit loose ;o)

It all depends on your perception: if you are willing to believe that Blenko is the norm, then all else is fake. However, the word fake implicates an intention to defraud. The relations between Blenko and Empoli were quite intense, sharing designers et all. So your bottle is Empoli, not fake per se.

Indeed you are right. I did not mean to dismiss Empoli glass. I simply used the terminologi from the page. I have no knowledge of Italian glass which is probably evident from my posts ;o)

I agree with above statement - that Blenko and Empoli shared designers

Below is a vase designed for Empoli by wayne Husted no less - some years ago I emailed him and he confirmed it was his design
for Empoli in the late 60s
