Title: Anyone have any history on fornassetti doing glass paperweights?

Hi I have come across 4 paperweights and one with a label by fornassetti, the other two have exactly the same base and the apple is identical to the egg, so am assuming they are all made by them  I can find no infornmation to date the lable or any other evidence they made thhese at all! an intriguing find, can anyone shed some light?

Seems they designed many things.

Hi there,

I do not think that the millefiori eggs are from Fornassetti. I think these are from AVEM - the canes are certainly AVEM. You can see examples of AVEM paperweights on Alan Thornto's website at:

Fornasetti are a design business covering the sphere of home decorative art. They outsource production and if these are AVEM design weights could even just bought in and labelled although that is surprising.

Hi there,

Sorry I expressed myself poorly. I think that only the two eggs with multi-colour canes are from AVEM. They are made from typical AVEM canes. I have seen such eggs attributed to AVEM before too.

I make no claim however regarding the other two items - the apple and egg with blue canes as I know nothing about them or about Fornasetti.

The apple and egg may have been made by the Campanello company. The way the canes are set and the indented base of the apple are very similar to other items discussed on the Board.

Hi guys,

I have been speak to Fornasetti this last week and they have said:

"Please be informed that Piero Fornasetti was used to sell in his shop in Milan some objects that he did not designed or produced but he liked, as these paperweights of Murano glass."
They confirmed these were sold in his shop and made to fit their labels so they would sit on the base, which is why they are all finished the same on the base.

Great info on where they were actually made thank you guys.

Interesting he did this as it was not common!

Definitely both eggs on the right are from AVEM ....the "murrine" are  very similar to my AVEM items in attachment...... ;)
