Title: Satin Glass Vases
Post by: Darlyn on June 21, 2006, 11:36:35 PM
Wondering if anyone recognizes my satin glass vases.
They have a frosted handled, ruffled rims and the pontil
is not rough, slight receded and yet not highly polished

Just a compete guess.......but this looks American. Fenton possibly?

An initial look would suggest that this might be English (Stourbridge), but the shape of the vessel doesn't have the quality I would expect.  Just to clarify, the neck is a little lob-sided and the handles are differently shaped and sized.

Alternatively, it could be continental.

Over to someone with more knowledge.......

They are not Fenton. Not a Fenton shape and not with a pontil mark.

I suspect they are Czech.

I agree, Connie.
Late Victorian & most likely Bohemian.
I have a satin peloton vase in a very similar shape, with the same rim crimp & applied handles.
My example is definitely Bohemian, & c.1880s-90s, as peloton is of Bohemian origin.
With the similar shape of these vases, even though they are plain satin & not peloton, I'd still say they are Bohemian.
