Title: BOHEMIAN? VASE WHITE CUT TO RUBY AND HANDPAINTED
Post by: vanmann on May 04, 2023, 03:30:14 PM
Any thoughts on this 11 cms vase. I am guessing Bohemian but would be interested to know if a maker could be traced. White overlay cut to ruby/cranberry and handpainted decoration.
Thanks John

This style of beaker or becher (rather than a vase) has probably been made by many factories over many years, I doubt you’ll find a factory. Yours looks reasonably fresh? I think the style of decoration of white cut through with enamel floral decoration originally dates from around 1850, see Harrach book page 143 and 147.

To illustrate your problem, here are a couple of pages of similar items from Leopold Palda 1955 catalogue: https://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Leopold-Palda-1955.332+B6YmFja1BJRD0zMzImcHJvZHVjdElEPTEzNDE2JmRldGFpbD0_.0.html
