Title: Walther Marina Lady
Post by: mhgcgolfclub on March 11, 2007, 10:27:00 PM
I bought this walther Marina Lady today, it later occured to me that this one is just the figurine and does not have the flower holder within the base, where many made like this and was it made for a different bowl

Hi there.  Just had a quick scan through some of the 30's catalogues and it appears it was only sold as a flower frog (the flower frog was either part of the figure and is often seen accompanying the rectangle bowl or a round flower frog that fits into the large shamrock bowl).  I didn't go through the other decades and could, of course, be wrong.  It probably could have been used as a light but I'll let the experts comment on that!  ???

Still browsing through this fascinating site and although this question is a bit old now, it is worth looking at Art Deco Pressed Glass site.... www.black-poppy.co.uk
as there are several of the Marina Ladies there. Trouble is, the site is addictive!! Enjoy!

Roy, your MARINA goes with a separate round flower frog into the SHAMROCK bowl (with clover leaves)

MARINA with the attached frog is this one - sitting in a square bowl (no name existing for it)

Pamela is correct Roy, there are 2 styles.....both are shown in the black-poppy site. One of my eBay pals sold a square one recently, and made a decent profit on it!!They are lovely.
Pamela, I discovered your presglass site a few months ago, and have managed to identify lots of my Art Deco glass from it.....thanks a bunch
