Hi.. Can anyone help identify this. It is a heavy tile that measures 6.5" long x 5.25" high x 1" thick
It depicts a Viking longboat in relief so it may be Scandinavian perhaps.. it has the remains of a label
front bottom right thats almost ripped off apart from that there are no other marks. It is a stunnng blue colour.
Thanks Paul

Hi Paul - A photograph of the remains of the label might help. Although somebody else may know just by looking at this piece. Cat

Pukeberg? There are two labels in:

However, if it's a paper label then the earlier ones might apply, however the only two examples I have are quite tatty - does it show a P (backwards) and B joined together?
Somehow it doesn't look like early Pukeberg though.

Lindshammer perhaps?

Thanks for your help so far guys... however the label isn't readable anymore.. it has been torn off and all that remains is the backing.
The image by the way is a rear view. Im pretty sure its scandinavian. Paul

You'd be surprised how many people on here can recognise shapes and proportions of even the most decimated of labels. There have even been positive identifications on here from just glue traces left in the rough shape of a label.
So you never know.
Even if it doesn't lead to an ID, knowing the shape of the label can discount other factories in the frame and narrow down the shortlist.

OK heres the image of the remains of label.. the remains measure 10mm x 10mm and are on the bottom right corner. good luck. Paul
