Title: Heavy vibrant red vase - clear outer casing
Post by: Beryl on March 20, 2007, 10:36:23 AM
Hi Glassies,
This vase is quite heavy.
The inner vibrant red colour is only a few millimetres thick, and the outer clear glass is 8 or 9 mm thick. Base has a slight rippled effect. Not ground. I have no idea where to start with this. Any help appreciated.
Thank you
Beryl

It looks like modern production glass to me Beryl.  Is the base similar to this piece?

I would say Polish. I have one, but it has a leopard print pattern.

Hi Max and Della,
The base on my piece is flat, but with a slight rippled appearance. The glass is a lot thicker than the one you linked to Max, and the red is just so vibrant, even though the red area of the glass is onle a mm or 2 thick. It is the clear outer casing that is aroumd 9mm thick.
I'm sure it is modern, too. Would you be able to post a pic of your Polish leopard vase, Della. Sounds fantastic.
Thanks,
Beryl
