Title: latticino cup and saucer - Italian?

Hi Glassies,
This is a latticino (is that the correct term?) cup and saucer. (unfortunately it has a crack in handle.)
None the less it is an amazing piece of work. Each space made with the  criss-cross pattern contains a control bubble. (minute - not much larger than a pin head.)
I just love the macro image of the closeup. I'd love to know suggestions on maker? Is it Italian? Is it 50's? Any information appreciated.

She did have a Salviati cup and saucer but the picture has gone from the thread.  The rest of the thread was a victim of that weekend where such a lot seemed to vanish.  The Salviati pieces seem to be enamelled, whereas this gorgeous cup and saucer seem to have the decoration within the glass.  I love it!  Cat

Hi Beryl, Cat and Sue, Sorry!  I meant to move the pic into my gallery from my website - I've deleted that months pics from my site now, so it is gone... but I still have the original pic on the computer, so I've put it into the Glass Gallery for posterity...

Beryl, yours is wonderful work isn't it!  the detail in getting those bubbles in place must be so very precise.

But as to who or where.... sorry, I'm not expert enough for that.  :'(

Is thais what they call Zanfirico? Beryl try posting on the Murano board.

It perhaps wouldn't hurt.  I would call those fine lines filigrana rather than zanfirico (which is usually twisted) or latticino, which is lacey twists of filigrana.

Thank you all for the advice given. The 'filigrana' (fine threads) are definately within the glass.

Hi Beryl,
The design is actualy called Reticello, which have trapped bubbles in between the latticino strands.
As for a maker? The design was done by a few people, but looks more like a Salviati or Fratelli Toso piece to me.

Looks more like a merletto technique to me but never come across it used interspersed with bubbles. Seguso was the Murano master of merletto, but this is far to regular for his work as his merletto effect was much more random.
I'm not at all sure this is Murano and wouldn't be at all surprised if it turned out to be Bohemian, be interesting to see what Ivo makes of it.

I own 2 of the Seguso marletto pieces, and that technique is totally different from this piece.
