Title: Green glass with optics on metal base
Post by: Beryl on March 21, 2007, 10:34:07 AM
Hi Glassies,
I get a "good feel" from this glass. The green is a dark olive green colour, with optic swirl. On a metalic base that is filled with something like plaster. I just have no idea where to start. Any help appreciated.
Thank you
Beryl

Is the metal silver? I remember once seeing an old solid silver ring holder which was filled with plaster underneath.  :-\

I don't know about the glass but look for a Sterling mark on the base. Weighted Sterling based items have a thin sheet of Sterling Silver over a plaster base.  Unfortunately, the plaster is prone to breaking down inside and you can often here is rattling around  :(

Also E.P.N.S or Shefield Plate, any markings on the base?  you dont say size, reminds me a little of a storm lantern.
