Title: Geometric Cut Ashtray
Post by: sandymae on March 24, 2007, 04:36:56 AM
Can anyone tell me if this is a Mandruzzato item? It's cut geometric, in a brillant red, with yellow and blue in a sommerso style. Not sure if they have been copied.

Looks like Mandruzzato but remember they are not the only ones to make panel cut somerso items.

Hi Sandymae,
Yes, these have been reproduced.
Not sure about yours, but there is a store here in a mall that sells new glass, and these are part of what they sell.
They also sell the Poli-Seguso style sommerso vases and pitchers, and the copies of the Madruzzato wavy vases and bowls that look like they have been carved on the sides. That is why I stay away from most sommerso pieces unless they are labeled, I have the same piece in my collection, or I have handled them myself.
