Title: Blue Glass Bottle with Transfer
Post by: Ambergreen on March 28, 2007, 03:19:02 AM
Found this milky blue glass bottle in an op shop today.

As you can see the glass has a transfer pattern on the outside of what appears to be a willow tree, man (shepherd) with a hat and crook and a dog by his side. The pattern is the same on all 4 sides of the bottle. I can't decide whether it is a Chinese in design or possibly even Dutch. The bottle top of white/milk glass is corked and has an oriental look to it but seems to fit the bottle/decanter well. There is plastic involved there so I'd imagine this would mean that this piece is perhaps 60's or 70's. Then again, I could be totally off there too.

Anyway, there are numbers on the bottom and they read : D-334 the, possibly 119 65 (though the 6 could possibly be an 8) and then on the bottom an 11.  There is also like a wavy mark through the glass approx 2/3 of the way down the bottle. You may be able to pick it up in the photo.

Would be interested if anyone can either identify this piece for me or maybe point me in the right direction.

Cheers,
Lyn

France or Italy perhaps - I see nothing Chinese or Dutch in either design or decoration.

Looks like something for bath oil or bubble bath, but not for Avon, it would be marked

:D Thanks.  I've just found a couple on Ebay. One suggests Avon whilst another Jim Beam??  Who knows ::)  I'll keep googling :D

Okay, did a bit more of a search and it appears to be the Beam's Choice 'Cameo Blue' bottle dated 1965. Still, wouldn't mind digging a little deeper and finding out who manufactured it.

Thanks!
